:This seminar course is a hybrid of law and public policy that uses active learning techniques. From a public policy perspective it examines the economic, political, social, and organizational theories of regulation, a key legal/policy instrument of government. From a legal perspective, this course examines the legal parameters that constrain regulation-making and expose regulations to legal challenge.

The aim of this course is to provide students with a solid foundation in the law and policy of regulation to work at a regulator, law firm or in a regulated industry as legal counsel, lobbyist or in another leadership role. This course makes use of group exercises to encourage active learning. The course also provides students with the opportunity to improve their presentation skills by presenting on a specific field of regulation of interest (e.g. financial, environmental, aviation, energy, labor, food, drugs etc.)
